Soul Cravings, Entry 7
So, I just read a quick entry this morning in Erwin McManus’ book, “Soul Cravings”, as I do most mornings. Today it hit me. So the theme of this book is centered around love. Pardon the “adult” themed post today, but I feel like he conveys something even teenagers need to hear in this entry.
It’s entitled “Making, Taking, and Faking Love”
“Whether we like it or not, much of our self worth is rooted in how others feel or think about us. If we belong to no one, we begin to feel that we are worthless. Because of this, we will do almonst anything to belong to someone or to belong to something. Se, unfortunately, is used as a shortcut to this love. Sex can be the most intimate and beautiful expression of love, but we are only lying to ourselves when we act as if sex is a proof of love (teenagers). Too many men demand sex as proof of love; too many women have given sex in HOPES of love. We live in a world of users where we abuse each other to dull the pain of our aloneness…”
That’s killer right there, and dead on.
